The metropolitan municipality of Xanthi was formed in 2011 by the merger of the former municipalities of Xanthi and Stavroupolis. Is the main provider of public services to citizens and the institution where citizens come in close contact with the public administration. Besides the provision of public service, the Municipality is active in the fields of society, culture, tourism, sports, and the environment.
